Computer Aided Auditing Minimize
Rushmore’s Computerized Audit System for IFTA and IRP was the result of collaboration with South Dakota, Nebraska and Iowa Auditors. Due to the growth and of IFTA and IRP in the early 90’s and demands from auditors to be responsive to those changes, the CAS System was developed to enable auditors to focus on auditing rather than on the skills necessary to maintain the various spreadsheets necessary to complete an audit.

The primary design consideration was that the system was to be a custom software not just another off the shelf type of product. The system would be used by Auditors to perform on-site audits of IFTA and IRP taxpayers and carriers. This has allowed us to work with the Jurisdictions and Auditors to not only develop the CAS Software, but also to provide continuous improvements to the system. For jurisdictions that wish to do it their own way, the CAS Software has user exits built into the software allowing the Jurisdiction to incorporate additional functionality into the CAS framework. Additional functionality can be added to the main menu at startup, additional calculations can be completed by using the reports catalog, and additional reports can be added to the system.

System additions and changes are based on auditor input.  Rushmore holds a user meeting in conjunction with the annual IRP/IFTA conference to address modification changes that participating states would like to see in the software. Users are also encouraged to contact Rushmore throughout the year with change/enhancement requests.
